Just a quick note to let you know that not only were our expectations met but far exceeded!! The yacht was everything and more than we could have hoped, and the crew was outstanding. We will email you some pictures once we collect from the other guests. Lori, you did a wonderful job on organization and the beautiful flower arrangements. We will obviously be looking to spend more time on The Spirit in the future. If anyone needs a reference please pass along our contact information. One of our guests is past president of the Congress of Neurosurgeons and does site visits for their conferences. He loved the One and Only and The Spirit. Hopefully, he will consider your yacht for a function should the Congress find themselves in Cabo or Vancouver.

Thanks again to both of you for helping us create a wonderful memory.

feliz ano nuevo

tommy and lori

i wanted to send our best wishes for a merry christmas and a happy new year to both of you and all my pals at cmsf in a more timely manner, but life throws curves when we never see 'em coming.

on a sad note, i lost my dad just before christmas. he became suddenly ill and passed 11 days later. seems since his passing, i've been more or less set adrift on an aimless voyage of sorrow and loss.

on a happier note, i've learned and rediscovered those truly important blessings and things about life we all sometimes cast aside in the clutter of living. the very best thing about having real friends is not having to apologize for neglecting those very friendships. there have and will always be those i know i can lean on when needed, physically, emotionally. you have no idea how often my thoughts wandered to you, filled with the promise of wonderful memories yet to be made, shared, and always cherished. as our grief subsides i find it easier and easier to cling to a life already filled with a treasure trove of wonderful times spent and shared - and sooo many of those memories with dad were made in mexico. he loved being there, great times filled with his unique passion for living, laughing, and loving. I am truly blessed to have loved a man so rare.

with an ever keener sense of the words and the meaning behind them, my wish for you in this new year is for health, happiness, peace and love.

be well mi amigos!

Hey Lori! Thanks for hooking us up (get it?) with Hector and Oscar and Omar. It was pretty slow in the morning, but we got busy in the afternoon. Nothing was that big, but we snagged 4 yellowfin and 2 white tuna. A lot of good eating last night and today. Happy holidays! Talk to you next year.

Lori,

Sorry this took so darn long. I hope you guys have a great holiday season and we look forward to fishing with you again soon!

We had a great time and plan to work with you again when we return. Now we just have to figure out our dates for next October and get the ball rolling. We thoroughly enjoyed your flexibility in scheduling and the hospitality of both crews!

It was a pleasure getting to meet both of you. I would like to Thank-You for all the hospitality. You have an excellent crew with the very friendly Captain Hector, Oscar, & Omar, please say hi for us. Tommy knew what he was doing with his choices. Capt. Hector moves that boat around perfectly. Oscar and Omar moves quickier than quick and is constantly trying multiple lures for the ones that ultimately did work to catch fish for us. And boy did it work for us. My dad, husband, and I had a good trip. We all hooked in to a once in a life time 150# Marlin plus the beautiful Dorado and exceptionally strong Yellow fin Tunas. Cabo Magic made our vacation a true vacation - Fun, relaxing, & exciting! Dreams really do come true. Thanks a million!!!

Hello Tommy and Lori!

I had read the news of your big fish….congratulations!! We could not participate this year, unfortunately, but always root for our “friends” that we have come to know over the past decade fishing in Cabo. I hope that Hector was Capitan.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving and I pray that The Lord continues to use you for His purposes.

Lori,

We had a great time and plan to work with you again when we return. Now we just have to figure out our dates for next October and get the ball rolling. We thoroughly enjoyed your flexibility in scheduling and the hospitality of both crews!

Here is a note I sent out to my team at work and family/friends:

The weather was HOT and HUMID to put it bluntly. 90% of the time was spent at the pool since we brought our oldest daughter (just turned 7) for the first time. I may have to bring her again since we spent about half as much as we did when we went without kids. Cerveza must cost more down there….or is it the quantity? As for the remaining 10% we went fishing and it was awesome!

We initially went out on Monday as a group of 4 and caught 3 good sized Dorado(Mahi Mahi) that were about 30 lbs. apiece. We ended up taking 1 side to a restaurant in the marina and had them cook it up 4 ways (rockafeller, blackened, garlic & butter, creamy wine and caper sauce) and it was awesome!

We were getting ready to go out for supper on Wednesday night and I just mentioned to my father in law that I had a blast and would love to go again. He jumped on it so the two of us went again Thursday morning (full day) and we had an exceptional day on the water. We had lines in the water by 7:30 am and by 9:30 we had caught 7 Dorado but only kept 4 due to size and limit. We actually caught 2 at once. Then things got a bit interesting! We got into a dead spot for about an hour so I wandered down into the cabin for a quick nap. Right when I was coming on deck, we were just about to enter a pod of dolphins. I had just sat down when you could hear the “scream” of 4 of our 7 rods! The Yellow-Fin Tuna were jumping all over heck. My father in law landed 1 and I landed 2 out of the 4 lines we had going. 1 got away but we could not complain.

By this time (noon) we had 4 Dorado, 3 Yellow-Fin Tuna and our ice was running low. The 1st mate was talking like we could lose some fish if we didn’t get back soon due to the heat/low ice. I told him B.S. we will clean them at sea if that was the case or we should make our way back in to port. We agreed to troll about 30 minutes longer and head in. Well, about 5 minutes into our final troll my father in law landed our last fish of the day which happened to be an estimated 103 inch Sailfish that we released. What a way to end the impromptu day! We had tuna steaks, sashimi and Mahi-Mahi (Dorado) done 3 ways at a different restaurant in the marina Friday night.

So with our luck came our dilemma. How do we get 60+ pounds of fresh fish home? It was much easier than I thought. We had to buy 2 coolers and pay for a few extra “bags” on the way back but it was totally worth it! Fishing for walleye will never be the same!!

Here are a few pictures: Cabo2011_Pics

Here is a video of the Sailfish being caught: Cabo2011_Video

I am glad the pictures and video came out good.

Expect to be hearing from me (us) again this year!

Hi Lori,

Thank you and your team for making our day one to remember and talk about.

Your crew was great and all went off like clockwork.

Caught terrific fish and we ate well for 3 days afterwards.

See attached picture.

We'll be in touch for our next trip whenever that may be.

Fond regards,

Dear Lori;
Having checked both the Webster's and Oxford dictionaries I just cannot find the proper words to describe our two recent fishing adventures with Cabo Magic.
Our day aboard Cabo Magic WAS magic. Even had we not caught the number and quality of dorado we did I would still have to write praises for Hector, Pancho, and Homer (Omar).
I am a flyfishing guide here in Alaska and know how difficult it can be to "be on" day after day. To answer the same questions day in and day out. To constantly smile and make the client feel important, even when you would like to be home in bed or with family. Those three were Top Notch and I ask from the heart that you convey to each of them how greatful I am for ALL their help.
As for our panga trip aboard the Karen, Hugo did everything he could in poopy weather to get us hooked up, and was very successful in finding us fish. We simply were unable to put together all the pointers at one time and thus the fish wonn that round---through NO fault of Hugo's.
We will be returning to Cabo in a year or two and when we do I can't imagine fishing with ANYONE other than Cabo Magic!
Thank you and your crew times 100,
Pat Mxxxxx and party.

PS Should you every come to Alaska it would be an honor to return the favor!

Cabo Magic -
Thank you for the incredible, once in a lifetime experience for our family... Every one was able to catch fish including 11 dorado (1 was about 35 pounds ), a yellow fin tuna (about 250 pounds) and a pelican (not trying). We also lost another tuna that was putting up a good fight. The 250 pound tuna took about 2 hours for my son and I to reel in. It took the whole crew to get that hog into the boat. We saw hundreds of dolphins, a seal, whales and hours of beautiful scenery! Watching our kids (12, 13, 14 and 15 years old) reel in fish on the ocean was amazing and a time they will not soon forget!
Uncle Tom spent hours researching prior to coming down to Cabo, trying to find the best fishing experience for everyone. Boy did he hit the jackpot with you guys! I don't think any of us could wish for a better experience!
Thanks Cabo Magic!!

Our trip to Cabo was awesome! The day on the water with Cabo Magic was def the best day we had there! We went out Tuesday Oct 25th, on Cabo Magic. We were met at the gate by your courteous staff and walked over to the boat where we met our captain and mate. Being new to marlin fishing the men explained everything to us from where we were going, what kind of bait and lures we would be using and everything in between. They're knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm was impressive.
Fairly soon after heading out we were making small talk and a marlin was spotted. the excitement in the captains voice got our blood pumping, the men did everything in their powers to lure the marlin in but no luck. We continued on and trolled the waters on a beautiful warm and sunny day. Through out the day we must have encountered marlin about a dozen times, each time the men worked diligently at positioning the boat, setting and throwing lines out and instructing us what to do. It was impressive. We did end up catching two 35-40 pound Dorados. They both put up a good fight and were a beautiful catch.
Rocky was on the money! He spoke very highly of you guys and both Dawn and myself were extremely impressed. After speaking to you on the phone I felt like I was talking with family. Our experience with Cabo Magic was simply amazing, exciting and awesome. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you so much for everything and if theres anything i can do to help you guys out please dont hesitate to ask! you guys are the best!

We had a great time fishing (today) with Charlie on Grey Light. Even though we did not bring any fish back we had some good action. I hooked into a Black Marlin looked to be 300lbs to 350lbs. Finally got him to the boat and was going to release but charlie thought it would be easier to take the fish. So we agreed and when Charlie gaft the fish it took off. Pulled Charlie from the starboard side of the boat across the back stern over to the access door. We all thought he was going over board. They struggled with the Marlin a little more but the leader broke and Charlie could not hold on any longer to the gaf. The Marlin swam away gaf and all. S0 I guess we could consider it a released fish. Got back to fishing and both Greg and Russ hooked a Dorado. Both broke the lines. All in all had a great day.
